Norja on vuonoistaan ja vuoristoistaan tunnettu maa, jossa matkailijaa odottaa henkeäsalpaavan kauniit maisemat. Pitkässä ja kapeassa maassa liikkuminen maanteitse on hankalaa, joten paikasta toiseen siirrytään usein lentokoneella. Suomesta voi lentää suoraan Osloon Helsinki-Vantaalta ja Tampereelta. Finnairin, SAS:n ja Norwegianin suorat lennot Helsingistä laskeutuvat Gardemoen-kentälle (IATA-koodi OSL). 45 km matka keskustaan taittuu nopeasti Flytoget-pikajunalla. Osloon pääsee suoraan myös Tampereelta. Ryanairin lennot laskeutuvat Ryggen lentokentälle.
Kaupungin nähtävyyksiin kuuluu linnoja ja museoita. Saaristomaisemia pääsee hämmästelemään Fjord-risteilyllä.
Pohjoiseen matkaavat voivat yöpyä yksityisissä mökeissä, mikä on hintavia hotelleja edullisempi vaihtoehto.
